Vibronyx Awarded SBIR Phase II Contract by AFWERX to Enhance U.S. Air Force Operations With Digital Supply Chain Twin

NASHVILLE, Tenn. March 11, 2024 – Vibronyx, Inc., a minority- and veteran-owned analytics technology and services company, has been awarded a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase II contract by AFWERX worth $1.25 million to enhance the company’s AI-powered Digital Supply Chain Twin (DSCT) to support the Department of the Air Force (DAF). The contract specifically develops a digital supply chain twin of the C-130 platform, enabling more resilient capabilities for the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC).

The Air Force faces significant challenges in maintaining the operational readiness of the C-130 fleet, including parts support, diminishing manufacturing sources and material shortages. Vibronyx’s DSCT technology will provide a comprehensive view of the C-130 supply chain, leveraging modern technologies like GenAI and simulation analysis to improve contingency planning and predictive maintenance.

“Considering the interconnectedness of Department of Defense (DoD) supply chains, this contract validates the demand across government entities to improve supply chain resilience through supply chain twin technology,” said Abel Young, Chief Revenue Officer of Vibronyx. “The Vibronyx DSCT offers an innovative solution perfectly aligned with the mission-critical imperatives of AFSOC and the prevailing defense narrative.”

The project will be a collaborative effort with the AFSOC A4, Sustainment Center units and Air Base Wing logistics units, alongside the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Aviation. The DSCT solution will deliver predictive and higher-fidelity demand signals for the C-130 across supply chain operations enabling AFSOC and DoD Agency partners to mitigate supply disruptions and improve C-130 uptime resulting in improved combat readiness, mission effectiveness and domination of air power.

Building on the momentum from the Phase I contract, the Vibronyx DSCT will grow to become an enterprise ready solution for both the public and private sectors. SBIR programs are highly competitive and aim to meet federal research and development needs; stimulate technological innovation; and increase private-sector commercialization of innovations derived from federal research and development. The primary objective of this AF SBIR open call is for “exploring innovative technologies applicable to both defense and non-defense markets, scaling capability and growing the industrial base for defense.”

In tandem with notable partnerships across the commercial markets and the DoD, Vibronyx continues to pioneer digital twin technology to accelerate supply chain transformations and strengthen U.S. national defense.
