NASHVILLE, Tenn. December 4, 2024 – Vibronyx, Inc., a minority- and veteran-owned analytics technology and services company, is proud to announce that it has been granted the 2024 Defense Manufacturing Technology (ManTech) Achievement Award. The company received this honor for its Modernization and Readiness Analysis of the Joint Food Management System (JFMS) project. Vibronyx will accept the award on December 4, 2024, at the Defense Manufacturing Conference in Austin, TX.
In collaboration with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) R&D SUBNET Program, the project focused on developing a modernization strategy for the DLA’s $3 billion Subsistence (Class I – food) supply chain. This supply chain is vital, providing food support for all branches of the Armed Forces as well as Whole of Government customers, including FEMA, USDA, and various Department of Defense (DoD) agencies.
“A modern JFMS is the culmination of a multiyear, longstanding collaboration that harnessed the expertise of diverse teams dedicated to strengthening our military’s logistical capabilities,” said Clayton Nicholas, Vibronyx Founder and Chairman. “The JFMS is about more than technology; it’s about equipping today’s warfighters with future-ready capabilities. The data and AI-powered solution will fundamentally enhance operational readiness through greater supply chain visibility and proactive decision making to improve warfighter readiness.”
Since being named the Prime Contractor for the DLA R&D JFMS contract in 2019, Vibronyx developed the supply chain modernization strategy, defined the JFMS business, functional, and technical requirements, its solution roadmap, developed a successful pilot solution and business case analysis over five phases:
- Phase I: Conducted an in-depth analysis to identify Subsistence requirements for the JFMS and developed a Digital Transformation Playbook. This playbook outlined practical strategies and a phased roadmap to remedy existing capability gaps and achieve the DLA’s vision for its future state architecture.
- Phase II: Undertook a similar assessment for the Military Services, focusing on research and analysis across all branches of the Armed Forces. This phase aimed to pinpoint areas of friction and opportunities for improvement, ultimately defining the Services’ business, functional, and technical requirements for the JFMS.
- Phase III: Focused on clarifying processes and technologies essential to the Subsistence supply chain, while assessing the impact of these requirements on key JFMS stakeholders such as US Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) and Subsistence Prime Vendors. This phase defined the capabilities needed to implement an end-to-end supply chain solution for the JFMS.
- Phase IV: Developed a successful pilot solution by integrating data from eleven systems across the DLA, Military Services, USTRANSCOM and commercial vendors to create a data lake, analytics and supply chain management dashboards with AI-powered insights. The solution included a hybrid-cloud and microservices architecture across Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure environments.
- Phase V: Aligned DLA strategies to fund and develop a production JFMS with a robust business case analysis highlighting investment requirements, ROI and a production solution roadmap.
This award is a testament to the combined efforts of Vibronyx, the DLA and its supply chain stakeholders to envision and design a Joint Food Management System that supports a future-ready, resilient supply chain that enhances operational readiness and supports warfighter demands with unprecedented precision.
